From the Dark to the Light

I noticed that all the projects in my last post were black. So here are some others that are white and cream. The desk and mirror are for my 12 year old daughters room. In honor of her getting her own room, since my 17 year old is moving out soon:(, we are starting fresh for her and the 3 boy's get a larger room. The table and chair are for sale and from here on out nearly everything will be.
Desk and mirror before, pink, and after, painted white.
With a little shot of Tiffany Blue inside.

 Chair and table before.
 These were rough but sturdy.

And after, painted cream with touches of Tiffany Blue.
Now they're pretty.
 Chair $20.
 Table $25.
Please comment if you are interested and would like to see in person.
Local Kalamazoo only.
Just wait and see what I have coming next! Dog lovers are gonna want to see this:)

That which lives in my home...

I thought I would start with some projects that now live in my home. All of these were given to me or found on the roadside, except the microwave cart, yard sale $5.
Milk can before and after. The before pic is blurry but you get the idea. My first attempt at decorative folk painting. Meaningful cause 1999 was the year we were married and if we ever get our forever farm home that is what it'll be named.

Treasure chest before and after. We use this as a toy box in our pirate ship themed basement. The inside is lined with a thick moddled red felt. I added brackets to keep topfrom closing on little fingers.

Microwave cart before and afters. I actually did pay five dollars for this at a yard sale. It was all painted that cream color seen on the doors but I was so anxious to get it done I almost forgot to take before pics! It fits so perfectly in the awkward space in my kitchen and frees up much needed counter space.
Cleaning, painting, and a little fabric and hardware is all it took for these discarded items to become usefull gems again. If it's broke fix it don't throw it out! WAIT! What am I saying!?
Throw it out so I can pick it and fix it!:)

Fresh Picked

Ok, so you've heard of "pickers", right? Well, I am one:) I love scanning those piles of junk on the roadside on trash pick up day and finding a diamond in the rough. Sometimes so rough I can't even use the thing for what it was intended for, but that is even better cause then I have to really get creative in it's transformation into something fantastic. I am so drawn to saving these orphaned gems that even with a van full of kids, 5 to 6 kids depending on the day, I can be found trying to stuff a chair, desk, or whatever in the back. Yes, I also do garage and yard sales and occasionally a flee market, but why pay for something that I can get for free?
This picking addiction I have has furnished my home and now I need to start spredding some of this around before my yard starts looking like a furniture graveyard. I am selling my beloved finds to anyone who either does not have the time to, desire to, or, lets face it talent and vision to pick. I have a keen eye for the bones of a great piece and a honed sence of the trends in color and design.
All of my pieces can fit into any style of decor. Whether you are looking for a country piece, contemporary, or traditional, and even that quirky pop of personality that completes any look, you can find it here, it's Fresh Picked!
All of my posts will have before and after pics, a price, and description of what inspired the transformation. I will be selling online and at local craft shows, also to be posted.
I don't just hope to make some money and clear my house and yard of the (ongoing)collection, I hope to inspire some out there to become pickers too. Just leave some stuff for me!:)
